Aluminium tools are typically a lot quicker to produce and more cost effective when compared to steel tools. Therefore, Aluminium tools are often used to create a smaller quantity of the product – which can be for testing if the order is of low volume. Additionally, the range of possible applications for aluminium in injection moulded plastic devices is limitless.
Aluminium tools are much more adaptable when it comes to modifications after the fact if the injection moulding process shows necessary changes. Adjustments may need to be made because of a design oversight, because the tool itself causes an injection moulding fault (such as irregular flow), or because product testing or market analysis shows some kind of shortcoming that needs to be corrected. This type of flexibility in manufacturing is invaluable.
